
The Rivers State Stakeholders’ Conference on Sustainable Development is an innovative community and stakeholders parliament styled program designed to empower rural communities to drive their development. This maiden edition of this event was held in the oil rich city of Port Harcourt in Rivers State of Nigeria from the 12th - 18th of October 2008. It is an annual event drawing delegates representing development clusters of communities as proposed in the Fifteen(15) Year Plan of the Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency (RSSDA) and other development stakeholders. The maiden edition of the Rivers State Stakeholders Conference for Sustainable Development 2008, came to an end with Dr. Mohammed Ibn Chambers delivering a special closing address.
Day 6 saw a full day exhibition event and Arts for social Re orientation show tagged Project Spot-A-Star. Participants were fully engaged in these events.
Private sector engagement forum, continuation of delegates workshops and Grand Opening of the Exhibition ground.
Delegates Workshop Sessions continued on day four. There was also Panel discussion on defining the role and responsibilities of the NGO in the Rivers State Development Framework, held at the Alfred Diete-Spiff Sports Complex.
Day three of the event saw delegates engage in workshops of various categories. Each workshop was attended by selected delegates from each local government area. Also, a Political and Public Office Holders Forum was held at the Government House in Rivers State.
Day two of the sustainable development conference was the official opening ceremony which included various events and speeches by special guests such as Rt Hon.
