The 2008 Rivers State Stakeholders Conference on Sustainable Development created a forum for diverse development stakeholders that were drawn from the communities, the international community, donor agencies, government bodies and parastatals, individuals, groups, the private sector, the civil society etc who came together in a round table and discussed the development challenges and concerns of Rivers State Government and her people and adopted programmes and strategies to move the State and her people forward.
The organizers of the conference believes that the plenary session assumed the full authority and backing of all participating delegates was a perfect platform for all delegates at the Conference to reach an agreement on the way forward and adopted a strategy that is time bound and which defined the roles and responsibilities of every party and set deliverables of all parties.
