This brand customizes the concept for the Rivers State Government of Nigeria, through The Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency (RSSDA), for a thrust for the benefit of communities and stakeholders in the development of rural area of the state.
HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
Southernfield Development Partners is established as a Sustainable Development services providing organization. The conceivers and drivers of the organization have evolved over the last fifteen years training and working as Student Leaders, Environmental and Social Justice Campaigners, Community Rights and Development Workers, Democratic Development & Peace, Conflict Management practitioners and recently Partnership & Investment brokers and Business Development support service providers.
Southernfield has been registered recently as a special vehicle combing these experiences and competences in a common strategy to address development need of rural communities in Africa with initial focus on Nigeria and more particular Niger Delta region of this Country. SOUTHERNFIELD developed the innovative “the Conference and Sustainable Development Solutions Marketplace” as a proprietary project to connect Communities, Businesses and Technical services to enhance Government and Development Partners service delivery process. The Ideas can be Branded under terms and conditions for the use of governments and Businesses to serve rural development needs in Africa
RATIONALE
Rural communities of Africa are clearly disconnected from wider National and Global economy, even though most of the resources that driver these economy s in major centers of development are derived from these communities.
In the same vein, the fast changing modern economy is dislocating traditional rural economy, throwing them out of pace, scale and competence required by trends. This is evidently generating social tension in this transition process.
What evidently underpins these condition are;
- Weakening traditional institution in communities (Governance arrangement & Social norms)
- Poor technical capacity to cope with the needs of modern socio-economic challenges with emerging global development trends
- Constrains as to access to information and opportunities for development
It is this obvious gap that Southernfield Development Partners will continuously seek innovative solutions to address as a development organization.
